Voronoi diagrams and adaptive subdivision

Voronoi Collage Build 3

Voronoi Collage

After discovering adaptive subdivision in the last post, I got interested in how to divide space into more interesting shapes like Voronoi diagrams.  I came across this video of Mario Klingemann from the FOTB 2009 Jam Throwdown where he explains his approach to the problem. The collages he’s creating with his Collagenerator are awesome. Anyway, this video set me off on the series of experiments you see here.  I’m only part way there, but I’ve learned a lot in the process and discovered an amazing open source AS3 Delaunay library created by NodeName. It can do Voronoi diagrams, minimum spanning tree and lots of other useful stuff. Props to NodeName!
